The largest hydroelectric dam in the world

The Three Gorges Dam is the largest hydroelectric dam in the world. It is located in the middle of the tree gorges on the Yangtze River, the third longest in the world, in the Hubei Province of China. The Yangtze River Dam was approved by the Chinese government in 1992. However, construction didn’t begin until 1994. It is scheduled to be completed by 2009. The $25 billion project is being internationally funded by companies, export credit agencies, and banks from Canada, Switzerland, Germany, France, Sweden, and Brazil. Controversy about the project arises from human rights issues (as many as 1.3-1.9 million people have been forced to relocate) and environmental impacts.

Wonderful arhitecture - the Pearl Tower in China

Jiang Huan Cheng of the Shanghai Modern Architectural Design Co. designed the Oriental Pearl Tower 东方明珠塔 at Lujiazui in the Pudong district of Shanghai, by the side of Huangpu River. It was completed in 1994.

Art museum in London

Ellis Williams Architects converted the Baltic Flour Mill into an art museum, at a cost of £50m. It was completed in 2002.
The Gateshead Millennium Bridge by Wilkinson Eyre crosses the River Tyne to reach the museum. The £22m bridge tilts to allow pedestrians across or to allow ships to pass. The modern art centre is northern England's version of the Tate Modern in London.

Amazing the 800 year old cattle market at Smithfield London

The 800 year old cattle market at Smithfield London was moved to Copenhagen Fields, Islington in 1852. Sir Horace Jones designed the Victorian Central Market in 1868. It cost £993,816. It has cast iron elliptical arches and domed towers at each corner.

Amazing buildings Antwerp Law Courts and Barbican Centre

Richard Rogers and Van Kerc Khove B.V.B.A., Ove Arup & Partners and landscape designer Wirtz International designed the new courthouse justitiepaleis for Antwerp, completed in 2006.
The soaring spires in this £86m project are pointed with a east-west orientation to catch natural sunlight. They provide an aesthetic reminiscent of sails on ships. Other environmental features include natural ventilation and water recycling. After becoming roiled in scandal, the legal system tried to make a statement of honesty and transparency from this open design. The six wings spread from a central spine like the legs on a spider. The roadway runs underground directly below this spine.

Construction of the building started in in January 2003 and in December 2003 it was finished. House architecture is based on Jan Marcin Szancer (famous Polish artist and child books illustrator) and Per Dahlberg (Swedish painter living in Sopot) pictures and paintings.

Amazing building in Ohio - Vontz Center

Ohio has the honor of being the birthplace of many American presidents; thus the nickname Mother of Modern Presidents. The name Ohio stems from the Indian name of the river - Ohio meant beautiful river. Indeed this beautiful river paved the way for the great industrialization of the State in modern times.
Ohio is ranked amongst the 35 largest states in the United States. It is also the 7th according to its population number. The nickname of the state is "The Heart of It All" due to the heart shaped feature of the State in the map. With this, many prominent locations and top-ranking hotels can be found in this region.
Frank Gehry designed the Albert H. Vontz Center for Molecular Studies for the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was completed in 1999.
Red brick gently slopes along Gehry's characteristic curves in this $46 million project. The bloated forms of the prefabricated masonry panels seem to defy the material's abilities. Swathes of windows punch through to illuminate the white inside.

Amazing the Leaning Tower of Pisa

The famous Leaning Tower of Pisa impresses everyone who visits it. It is located in the city of Pisa in Italy and its structure sits in Piazza dei Miracoli (Cathedral Square). Visitors who are not aware of its history might wonder why a large task reflects poor civil engineering. The tower stands next to two impressive buildings, the Camposanto and the Duomo the Baptistry.
An Italian sculptor named Bonanno Pisano designed it in 1174. The Leaning Tower of Pisa slowly began sinking right after the laborers started building it around 800 years back. When the third floor was being constructed, the workers started to realize that the Tower was slightly leaning. The problems occurred because of the poor choice of location to build the Tower.
